RE: The Jeff Sessions "Religious Liberty Task Force"

Quote:The constitution says ""Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."
The phrase separation of church and state, comes from a letter by Thomas Jeffereson in 1802 referencing this.
"I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof', thus building a wall of separation between Church & State."
This seems to be quite in line with the constitution, rather than "a direct violation" of it. No matter what color your glasses are.

Have you actually read what Sessions said? It's definitely slanted toward christians. (it's easy to see, count the number of times he refers to something christian)

I see no need for a task force that is set out to protect the majority religion. I like what the ACLU has to say:
"As enshrined in the First Amendment, religious freedom includes two complementary protections: the right to religious belief and expression and a guarantee that the government neither prefers religion over non-religion nor favors particular faiths over others. " (read the yellow box thingies also)

And this article sums it up pretty good: https://www.pressherald.com/2018/08/03/r...s-liberty/

Yes, this "task force" is quite unnecessary and again, only furthers the Christian faith and it's agenda where this country is concerned. Courts have all but given their blessing to Christians to let them discriminate against anyone who's ideals don't fit with theirs (namely the LGBT community). Anyone who can't see what Sessions is doing is blind. And anyone who thinks this task force is okay is an idiot.

Well at least we have moved from the unconstitutional nonsense. Now where left with speculation. However, unless you point to something specific to have an issue with, I’m not concerned with what you imagine and your fear of allowing the furthing of Christianity. I think we are getting closer to what this is really about.

As a Satanist, my right to sacrifice Christians is being infringed. I hope this task force takes up my cause.

Is it not my right to practice my religious beliefs? Who are you to stop me?

What contemporary issue concerning religious liberty is so pressing that it warrants a task force, RR?
If stoners smoking pot in the privacy of their own livingrooms disturbs this guy, it's quite possible that he thinks religious liberty is under attack, even if nonbelievers are simply minding their own business and going about their lives..

Me... I’m no one. But I wouldn’t agree, that someone may kill another for their religious beliefs. I don’t think that anyone is arguing that either.
