Genesis and the rest of the OT contains the story of a group of people awaiting a savior king that will be sent from God to free them from their plight. It's written in the form that was most common to the times.  It commenced shortly before the coming of Jesus who was proclaimed to be that savior. I don't see how scientifically disecting the events described will disprove the validity of Christianity.

Except for this story supposedly actually happened and thus is subject to real-world scrutiny.

If, for just a very brief moment, we grant the supposition that Genesis was divinely inspired, why was the original text modified in the centuries after its original composition? No true believer is here to answer this (Derick is gone, of course), and, so, feel free to fill-in on their behalf.

If a modern Jew accepts and follows the OT, then they are still awaiting the messiah because it definitely is about that. Jesus and most of the NT writers were believing Jews.

Actually, most of the NT writers were members of a fringe Jewish sect - their views about the messiah differed significantly from the OT version.

Paul, who wrote a majority of the NT was a pharisee. You don't get more mainstream than that.

The others were labeled as a fringe sect by those who didn't accept Jesus. The leaders were afraid of losing their authority and power.
