Which of course, leads to the obvious reply question: why do they think that you wouldn't be able to come to what they no doubt characterize as an obvious conclusion yourself, if you hadn't been forced into it at a young age?

This is the contradiction at the heart of christianity: they claim their god is obvious from the clear creation he has made, and yet they scrabble so desperately to get as many children as possible, and to plaster their gods name and commandments everywhere they can.Their rhetoric is so self assured, and yet their actions are so wheedling and nervous.

Well God's message is clear, but Satan is hiding everywhere trying to lead us astray, you see? You gotta protect against the devil with indoctrination...
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

So stop trying to insult people for "choosing to be atheist". It's (God)childish.

Just because you want to deflect by saying there's no choice doesn't make it true, you chose to be an atheist, period. Childishness is not stepping to the plate and accepting your responsibilities.

Did you "choose" to suddenly believe in God, GC, or did the evidence for his existence simply convince you that he does indeed exist?

Have they loved you these 14 years, feed you, gave you a home and all parents do for their child, have they? Does what a parent do for their child seem they would steer one in the wrong direction? Don't you believe your parents have the right to handle this, they gave you life, they've worried over you daily, their the ones that's guided you in many ways for 14 years. Tell me which one of these on this site have changed your diapers, watched over you when you were sick, fix meals for you every day and all the other caring things parents do for their children.

So, you think children of Muslim parents are correct to believe in Islam, since their parents took care of them? That children of Hindus are correct to believe in Hinduism, since their parents took care of them? That children of Buddhists are correct to believe in Buddhism, since their parents took care of them?

Have you no regard at all for people believing the truth? Following your advice, most people in the world would believe falsehoods. This is because, no matter what one believes about religion, most other people in the world disagree. If everyone simply (mindlessly, really) believes whatever fool thing their parents believe, most people will be wrong.

I never said anything like what you are suggesting, I actually left the decision to the boy, unlike others here. I was pointing out that he needed to work it out with the ones who have always been there for him. On the other hand you only care he accepts atheism at any cost, his well being is not even a consideration for you. I was only trying to help him to see the ones who have been with him for the 14 years of his life, love him, again unlike you.

I know this wasn't a reply to me, but I'd be remiss if I didn't point something out. When a person comes out as an atheist and the family severs ties with that individual, the family members are the ones who made a choice to destroy the relationship, not the person who acknowledged he/she is an atheist.

If anybody ever decides to cut ties with me, it will be their choice and not mine. I don't want the relationships I have with my family members or friends to crumble simply because we do not share religious beliefs. Atheism does not destroy relationships. Individuals more committed to an ideology than a son, daughter, brother, sister, nephew, niece, etc. are the ones who end relationships.

To be honest, you're kind of a dick, saying that i have taken these people as my adopted parents, how does me being a different faith mean I dont love my parents, I love them more than anything in the world, and I dont need Jesus fucking Christ to show that love, they're amazing, and don't ever guilt trip me into thinking I dont love my parents, because you're wrong. But I don't need to believe everything my parents believe in to show my affection, go away "GC", this is why I find christianity wrong.

I was only trying to get you to see that your parents love you, through all they've done for you, I haven't asked you to change your mind about your non-belief, as far as I'm concerned that's something you'll need to do, but it will effect your relationship with your family sooner or later, that you can count on. I'm only trying to give you something to consider about your decision, it's your life, just be ready to live it.

Wow, that's pretty rich, coming from a Christian. May I remind you what act led to the covenant between Abraham and your god? Abraham was ready to murder his own child, because a voice inside his head told him to. And he didn't even know anything about heaven, hell, or even god - since there was no bible and especially no New Testament. He just did it because he feared a voice in his head more than he loved his family. You follow that mythical coward (and most likely a mental case), just as the Jews and the Muslims do. And call him "father"... For shame!

And what about all the people who gave up their families to follow Jesus around? If someone joins some stupid new cult, rejects his old "religion providers" and cuts off contact with their family - Christians make a big fuss and call it a bad - even immoral - decision; and yet - that's precisely how your own particular sect... I apollogize... re-li-jin started. Hypocritical much?

I'll leave you with this lovely quote, to ponder upon, before you decide to lecture anybody about family again.

34"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35"For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW; 36 and A MAN'S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD".
Matthew 10:34-36

When you gain some idea what the Bible actually says, then come back, I not reading or listening to such stupidity.

There's no dishonesty there, I care about families, I've seen to many destroyed over disbelief, take what I say as you want, it will never change the truth nor my determination to try and help families.

Anyone who loves their kids any less because of their religious beliefs, or lack of, is a total arse hole and they are the problem.

I explained earlier today that no one chooses atheism... you've been here 5 years GC, how can you not understand that basics of atheism yet?

Well, I've seen a few things myself (though I may be younger), believe me, and I'm saying you're a liar.

What you say and what you've posted are defections from the truth, so how do you possibly believe you can know the truth from a lie.

Yeah, I guess a family deciding to cut ties with a person who doesn't share their religion is fucking hilarious.

Actually, though I'm hesitant to request more bile from you, can you give some examples of something you've seen that none of us mortals can understand?

You like AlexK have taken parts of what I've said and put together a quote I did not make, you both are totally dishonest liars who care nothing for this child. You both are lower than any human being I've met here yet. Taking what a person says and rewording it to say something that wasn't said SHOULD BE A FORUM VIOLATION, but I guess it's not, so I guess you two weasels will continue to do so. The new comer are destroying this forum.
