I don't disagree. I am just saying that humans are born atheist and have to create a different state of belief.

Being a Rational, Critical Thinker.
Learning how Evolution is fact. Oh and Religion itself.
The refusal of the Christians surrounding me to recognize the beauty of the universe. Understanding how the universe really works was something for the non-believer, so I became one.
Maybe the better way to say it is that I was tired of going through contortions to justify my belief in god as well as reality. This led me through stages of evolution is an illusion, evolution was guided, evolution was set in motion, and eventually evolution is real and self sufficient, to stick to just one theme.
Started asking questions about my faith, started doing a lot of reading (on places like this and elsewhere), asking more questions, finding the arguments for God and the Bible terribly unconvincing... and here I am.

Because I found that of all the things needed to be religious, there is literally not a single one of them that is not utterly and, at this stage of accummulated human skill and knowledge, contemptibly wrong.
Being forced into a world filled with morons made me an atheist...
As far as I am aware, I have been an atheist for my whole life. Cunt
I was accidentally raised atheist by my parents. They took me to church, but never, ever talked about god to me or told me what to believe. At the same time I was taught only to believe in something that has evidence and to understand science trumps the bible every time. Atheism was my inevitable destination.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
I was born allowed to pick my own religion, and well I am a Atheist
"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful" - Edward Gibbon (Offen misattributed to Lucius Annaeus Seneca or Seneca the Younger) (Thanks to apophenia for the correction)
'I am driven by two main philosophies: Know more about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you' - Neil deGrasse Tyson "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." - Mark Twain RE: What made you become an atheist?

Surprised you weren't immediately pounced upon by our resident theists on that post. Wheres Stat...a comment like that ought to be able to summon his presence by sheer power of nut magic....I suppose it's still too early to tell.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
The desire to curse out loud every time I see a religious person, or hear someone talk about God. The fact that when I hear preaching, I either roll my eyes or laugh out loud depending on how much it sounds like bullshit. And the fact that seeing someone I once went to church with can make me furious. Otherwise, like they say, I was born atheist and duped.
