What a telling excuse in any case. Here comes Jesus, jesus says to us "Hey yall, all that shit I did and told you to extoll and emulate, all those things I commanded before....you don't have to do any of that anymore."
The mind wonders why, often we hear "because we are incapable of following the law, we all fall short"...but clearly we're capable of genocide, and slavery, of sheathing our swords in blood... of carrying out whatever violence we might imagine a god has commanded us to carry out.....of extolling the righteousness of any of it (look at our own boards). If we fall short, it isn't on any of those "laws", we're ready, willing, and able to carry out those commands. If this is what is meant by being "created in his image" I'd be compelled to entertain the notion at the very least.
But, as with everything about this god, there's a far simpler, well-evidenced explanation for the entirety of it.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

God is bi-polar?

Deuteronomy 7:16-24
You must destroy all the nations the LORD your God hands over to you. Show them no mercy and do not worship their gods. If you do, they will trap you. Perhaps you will think to yourselves, 'How can we ever conquer these nations that are so much more powerful than we are?' But don't be afraid of them! Just remember what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and to all the land of Egypt. Remember the great terrors the LORD your God sent against them. You saw it all with your own eyes! And remember the miraculous signs and wonders, and the amazing power he used when he brought you out of Egypt. The LORD your God will use this same power against the people you fear. And then the LORD your God will send hornets to drive out the few survivors still hiding from you! "No, do not be afraid of those nations, for the LORD your God is among you, and he is a great and awesome God. The LORD your God will drive those nations out ahead of you little by little. You will not clear them away all at once, for if you did, the wild animals would multiply too quickly for you. But the LORD your God will hand them over to you. He will throw them into complete confusion until they are destroyed. He will put their kings in your power, and you will erase their names from the face of the earth. No one will be able to stand against you, and you will destroy them all.
Seriously, Hitler couldn't have come up with such an unapologetic evil rant. Praise the Lord.

Show me where John V said any of those things @ anyone here.
Use the quote function please.
You are either exceptionally stupid, extremely obtuse, or both.
I think you know good and god damn well that I was speaking in generalities and that I used the quotations as a device to show what many christards have actually said to us non-believers in the past.
Quote:Otherwise retract (apology optional.)
And lets just stick to what is actually said to you by people who are actually here.
Retract what? I never made a claim that JohnV said anything, I was pointing out the hypocrisy of you filthy fucking christards.
But hey, if you want an apology, ok
I am really sorry you're walking around on this planet spreading the disease of religion around and passing it off as something 'good.'

I know you only want to listen to other shitheads who believe in your fairy tales.
I suggest that you take your sorry ass to a xtian board to get your ego stroked.

Ironic isn't it? You have both and yet you do neither.

Discussion is impossible with people who insist that fairy tales are real.
Some high-powered Risperdal or Ziprasidone may help you.

point is, one cant deny horrible things in the bible, but are there christian traditions today which celebrate inhuman historical events? just asking. Everytime a fundie sees a rainbow, they will give thanks and remember that it is the beauty of Gods promise (they leave off gods promise to what??). Gods promise not to murder nearly every living thing on the planet again!! Well, using a flood anyway. He can do it other ways though (left himself a nice loophole there, lol).
Exactly.
At primary school, I remember being taught the virtues and beauty behind the flood/Noah story, and how great everything is because of it.
In fact, the front cover the 'good news bible' we had at school was the ubiquitous symbol of the dove flying past the rainbow to a beautifully rendered baby blue sky which evoked in me a sense of beauty and peace (I was a child remember).
Looking back as an adult, it becomes pretty clear that the bible and the story it is based on is nothing if not a celebration of god's power and ultimate control over everything he/it oversees, in this case, genocide en masse.
It's pretty clear what the story (and the bible cover) was trying to evoke on our little child minds, and what it was trying to omit (or distort). Who'd have thought that genocide could be so fluffy and innocent?
