It states the penalty for sin. You have to remember, that Jews were still not allowed to take justice into their "own hands", read the full passage and this is clear.
Is it sinful for people to carry out capital punishment ordered by god?

If not, then on what basis do you claim that killing is inherently sinful? And on what basis do you claim that Drich's position (to which you were responding) is incorrect?

No, it isn't (but to be fair, nothing is sinful). On the other hand it is a clear display of abject ignorance.

It's not my job to read the Bible for you.

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.

That's a copout. Just answer the question. If god orders one person to kill another, is that killing sinful? It seems that you don't want to say "yes," but that would be the logical answer if you really believe that killing is inherently sinful.

Considering the Israelites did just this in their genocidal sweep through Canaan we all know the answer he doesn't need to admit it.

God reminds me of the Hulk: powerful, supposedly good, and big nasty temper tantrums.

Oh, and: imaginary.

Maybe he's green too? Nah, my analogy fails, we're made in his image and we're not green. (Although we're probably not made in his image because he's imaginary). Maybe we are green but we don't look green to ourselves?

The Hulk never murdered 99.9% of the creatures on earth in an act of premeditated mass murder.

There was no genocidal sweep through Canaan. Which raises the intriguing and troubling question of the mental health of the people who later invented such a blood-thirsty story and attributed it to their fucking "god."

All I'm saying is that if I had to choose, I'd worship The Hulk.
