I do love it when theists get all fire and brimstoney on us. Because telling us how an imaginary being is going to reign down imaginary fire on us becuase we think it's a joke really does the trick on making us convert.

Get In The Ark Before It Is Too Late!!!

Oh I do like the fire and brimstone stuff as well. Makes my day. The comedy, the absurdity, the inane and insane fervor...
That being said, I would think, from the theist's perspective, they might pull their head out of their ass just long enough to notice, it's not working. But no... They don't seen to notice. RE: Get In The Ark Before It Is Too Late!!!

Meh, presumably, it worked on them (otherwise one might wonder why that tune gets so much airtime), so of course they'll fall back on it after their ad hoc rationalizations fail to impress.
I'm not sure why fear is supposed to be more persuasive or impressive, in and of itself. I can't understand why anyone would want to be a little mouse, hiding from noises in the clouds -even if it were true-...and there actually is some cosmic dick pulling strings in the sky. To me, that just seems like an even better reason not to bend the knee. When did we become such pussies? Are we not telling The Man to go fuck himself anymore?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

The trick for threatening people with hell is to reserve it for people who already believe it's real.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

It's a vital first step and you keep missing it. Then you need to demonstrate that these professed supernatural things are separate from nature (hint: if it has any bearing on natural reality at all, however slight, it becomes part of nature by definition; and thence falls squarely in the purview of scientific enquiry). That's their face playing muzak while their brain desperately tries to open up the back of their skull and hurl itself into oncoming traffic.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
It always amuses me when they claim the efficacy of prayer for healing people. When you ask for citation it's never "here's video evidence of prayer curing someone of something before our eyes!". It's always, "A friend of a friend saw", or "I witnessed" or, "We prayed for this person with cancer and they were cured!" - always ignoring the chemo and the surgeries that were also involved. Will my actions make the difference in the person's life or will it be the prayers of his family?" ![]() Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???"
