Your Motto .. or someone else's Motto you admire

Treat others as you wish to be treated.
You'd think this is a simple motto, one that can be easily followed...but, there's a lot of people who treat people as they wish NOT to be treated, themselves. 
Looking at the "related artists" part of artists I play on Spotify. Tanlines right now. Probably Blouse next.

It's more of a saying that morphed into my motto. (It has to be said in a thick North Eastern (U.S.) accent to be affective.) "Go fuck yer-self."
I never pass up the opportunity so sing it. Hmmm... I'm allot like a muslim praising allah in this regard.

This one always struck me as good advice for when you don't know the person or are not sure how it is they'd like to be treated. But then you still have to qualify it to treat others as they prefer to be treated .. provided you don't find that too repugnant.
