CL, you seem like an educated person. Didn't they teach atheism at the college you attended? (It isn't that hard.)
I enjoy joking with you, but seriously I wonder what did you major in? I'm guessing something to do with writing. You have a flair.

Can you describe exactly what spiritual life is?
You keep contradicting yourself. Now you say women can be spiritual teachers, so your argument is even more bullshit. What is the reason women can't be priests and popes if they can be spiritual teachers and don't have the ability to give physical life on their own?
I don't like repeating myself. if you don't want to talk to me, say so and I'll stop wasting my time.
eta: saw your edit. Why can't women perform sacraments?

Lol, I'm pretty sure you're being sarcastic because my writing sucks.
I actually went to nursing school. I finished it for the sake of education but hated it and never used it. I guess I'm just not a career women.

I fear that getting you to believe it is a real thing is part of the placation itself. I just feel sad to see what is blatant sexism in my eyes being justified by intangible phrases which undoubtedly came from those same males in charge.
I can't deny it; I think religion is one big con. But I respect that from your perspective, it's very real.
If you're prepared to watch some heathen TV, one of my favourite guys Don Baker does a great piece here explaining the sorts of reasons I have to think it is a con. Move to 4:00 in the video.

I respect your views. I will take a look!

My bold.
Good, I'm glad I cleared that part up for you.
We don't know why, exactly. We just believe that for whatever reason, God gave that ability only to men. Just like He gave the ability to carry life and give birth, only to women. For whatever reason, He just thought it would be best that way and that is how He designed it to be. Though we don't know why He chose women to give birth and men to give sacraments, we do understand that there is some balance to giving one very important role to one, and another very important role to the other.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Thank you
I'm not trying to batter you into deconversion, all I'm doing is trying to explain how things seem to me, so you can understand my godforsaken perspective
It's great that you actually want to learn about atheists, you have no idea how rare that is (at least on this forum).

You're still ignoring that for procreation, both a man and a woman are needed, when only one man is needed for priesthood.
So.....you admit you don't have a justification for the church doctrine. OK. Well at least we agree there. But why stay obedient to it if it doesn't have a reason?

Well, you know gestating, birthing and nursing a baby are pretty special. As for sacraments, don't forget that women make really good sammiches.

My wife and I were discussing what a horrific process giving birth is, and it occurred to me that it's about the worst way it could possibly be "designed". Especially considering the baby could literally appear out of nothing, after simply praying to god (as a couple) for a child and him agreeing. I would have gone with that method.
It is however exactly the kind of bodge job we'd expect to see from an evolutionary standpoint.
I'm never doing it, that's for sure!

Oh trust me. I'm not holding anything against you. I understand how to a non believer words like "sacraments" and "spiritual life" sound like a bunch of baloney and make absolutely 0 sense. So rest assured, I get it! :
I'm just thankful you are respectful.. that's really all I ask.
And of course! You guys are interesting to me! Anyone who is very different from myself, to me, is interesting. I'm enjoying my time here with you guys.

Oh sorry... I thought I addressed that already.
Yes, men are needed to impregnate a woman. But I'm not talking about the "impregnating" part of it. I'm talking about carrying life and giving birth. Which are immensely powerful and important things that only women can do.
I believe it does have reason. God gave one very important role to one gender, and another very important role to the other gender. I don't know why He chose women for the birth one, and men for the sacrament one, but to me that part is not important.
