God as already stated in the Bible that murder was a sin, for God to say to me murder wasn't a sin would then be a lie. God doesn't lie so He wouldn't tell me murder wasn't a sin, now the old devil might try that trick, however I would know better because Jesus said that those who are His would recognize His voice.

Sooo, you're an Israelite. And god says: "thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee."

So what do you do?

And please, just answer the question. Do you kill these people in droves? Yes or no?

If I were a part of the Israelite nation at that time yes I do, it had a purpose for God's people, the innocent in those wars were given eternal life, those who betrayed God long ago and influenced their children down through the ages were being punished. This is totally different in every aspect as to what was purposed. When God said that the sins of the fathers was punished throughout many generation was because the fathers taught the children and the sin went on and on, until it became a vile life against God.

Wait a minute, you would if it you thought it fulfilled god's purpose.  Fine, let's alter the question slightly.  What if god told you it was his purpose to:  kill all homosexuals; kill all atheists;  or kill all Muslims.   Would you do any of those things?  Image a burning bush said it was it's plan.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

That's a silly question because countless people have killed whole herds of fellow humans throughout history simply because some local big wig crazy person told them to do it.  It's really human nature to kill each other for any reason or no reason.  Now, imagine a genuine God creature showing up and telling some yokel to go on a killing spree.  There'll be corpses everywhere in a flash.

The God character in the Bible was simply a series of human rulers of the dominant empire in the area at any given time.  There was no invisible all-knowing sky or desert mountain dwelling deity giving people orders.  People did what the particular crazy ruler told them to do and they did it with gusto.  Just like they do today.

And I think they also claim morality comes only from god. So I don't understand on what grounds they can refuse. Are they finally admitting that in fact morality doesn't come from god?

The fact that they know this in advance means they are aware of some standard of actions being wrong, even if god says they are right. So how can morality just come from god? I'm not trying to be a clever arsehole, I'm serious. How can god "cross a line" if he makes the line?

I'd love an answer for this Smile It seems an impossible conundrum. I won't ask people specifically to answer, but for anyone who would refuse to do what God said past a certain point, I'd like to know how you justify it.

If you wouldn't refuse to do absolutely anything God said, that is even more scary Sad

To clarify, this is your God. You know for sure. It's not a fake God. If you "know" this would never happen, then you can safely answer a hypothetical that will never happen, right?

Not really.  The bible was used to support those incidences.

No changing of minds was necessary.

Military people and cops do it on an hourly basis.

Meh, we're not much for murdering, raping, or stealing.  That's how you get your pay docked. Soldiers aren't empowered to do those things, different situation than cops (or militants, a distinction that's easy to miss, btw).
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I haven't answered a hypothetical question yet and I want, I've explained a hundred times here I do not invest my life in hypothetical situations, they have no meaning to life, they waste it. So catch this if you can, God doesn't need to send me to kill anyone, His Son died for justice to be served and in time it will be. God wouldn't tell to kill anyone, He would be lying and God doesn't lie.

Interesting how people know what god would and wouldn't do better than god does.
