Hitchens, Dawkins, Hawking, Ehrman, Coin, Sagan: Where are the Woman?

Women don't generally get respected as scientists. No reason to expect them to be listened to when they're talking about stuff that's not falsifiable.

Well...you're in luck.....Druyan coauthored demon haunted world.  You've already read her work. You;ve probably heard her words fall from Neil Tysons mouth, as well. That's one of her least impressive creds. The voyager spacecraft have her work onboard, as a message to any alien civilization that picks them up, and she's the program director for Cosmos 1, a deep space solar sail prototype. She's a fellow, chair, or director for a number of organizations dealing with the supernatural -and science, and just so happens to smoke a little weed....(lol - idk whether or not she does, she's just involved in marijuana reform).
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Ann Druyan always gives too much credit and reverence to her late husband. Whenever I hear her talk it's Carl thought this Carl did that Carl Carl. For gods sakes, just tell us what you yourself think, I'm sure it's interesting!

That's why she's not well known.  Everytime I hear Carl Sagan talk I hear her words in his voice, lol.  Their styles were distinct, and the things most people remember from sagan were, regardless of whatever she says in self depricating mode, very clearly hers. Particularly the things he had to say about religion. She was the spiritual one, he was notorious for refusing to even discuss the matter. Yet, in their co-authored work, both in print and on film, we hear him ecstatically talking about the wondrous spiritual experience of science, the line "This is better than we thought" - attributed to Sagan...not his. She's still writing about that today.

Just downloaded an audio version. In case you didn't see my reply to you in the other thread, I also downloaded Digital Fortress.

She probably deserves a spot.  Whether a person agrees with her or not she still had the steely ones to stand up and take a highly detestable position on more than one thing.

Don't suppose Tracie Harris or Jen Peeples count.

Patricia Churchland? She's kind of like a female Daniel Dennet in the sense that she's well-versed in both neuroscience and philosophy and likes to talk about how the former affects the latter. I don't think she spends much time arguing over religion, so I can't say for certain she's an atheist. But she spends quite a bit of energy arguing for a physical reductionist view of the brain, i.e. the soul is bullshit.

Note: I did find the one book of hers I read, "Touching a Nerve," to be underwhelming.
