Are you saying fictional stories can't explore their backstories while still being allegorical? What the fuck kind of logic is that?
Quote:Without a literal "fall from grace", as described in Genesis, there's nothing for Jesus to save us from. You need too come up with some way that sin entered the world or else admit that Yahweh created us as sinful beings (and then sent himself to sacrifice himself to convince himself to forgive us for being what he made in the first place).
Think for a second about what you just said. Actually think. The story is allegorical. Allegory suggests that the story itself is metaphotrical for something literal. It doesn't just mean 'the story is an allegorical piece of hogwash without meaning.' It means that 'the fall' is something being described through allegory by means of fictional, metaphorical tale.
Goddamn, this problem bugs me. Do you know how to read, DP? I'm betting you do. So actually read the book, and don't just take it at face value. Think about what you are reading.
Ugh. This is why my generation desspises reading so much. It takes too much thinking.

Obviously not.

@ Dotard: Like I said originally: try to look at the evidence properly yourself without taking the biased misinformation as gospel (!). You will find that the truth is very different to what you're claiming. I stand here having never been defeated on this on this forum yet. No one has ever found one scrap of evidence to support those claims. I'd urge people to take the rational stance rather than an intellectually unsupportable one as you're doing here: that there is no successfully established challenge against what I'm saying, but there are challenges none the less which should always be taken seriously.
@ Paladin: Yes your argument is with fundamentalist literalists my friend, and not me. My arguments easily defeat yours. You cannot argue the case, just present an endless supply of additional suggestions that are too easily shot down.

I don't think Islam as a whole is a threat to the free world. Sufi Muslims, for example, are quite peaceful.

Seconded.

I agree with that. It's only the Islamic extremists who are causing all the problems.
The moderate ones are the majority of Muslims like myself.

I sure wish you "moderates" would speak out against your barbaric, backwards brethren. Oh wait, I forgot. They will kill you too!

I'm willing to say that most Christians and I assume most Muslims (I don't personally know as many) are good people who want to believe their religion is also a force for good in the world. Even as I speak out against Islamo-Christianity as a religion, I'd fight for the right of them to build their community centers on their own property and practice their religion so long as they give equal respect for my right to be free of it.
My concern is any religion that has a devil to fight and a hell to save souls from is potentially dangerous.

Thanks guys. I'm confident it would be the conclusion of anyone not indoctrinated into the cult of Christ.

Way to show your confidence, DP, speaking in such belittling language of something you understand so little of.
