If a man with a questionable background can create a religion and gain followers, what does that essentially state about other religions?

It's a great non-fiction.  You should check it out if you have not already.

I have read the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the pearl of Great Price. I was set apart as a missionary while in Scotland but I didn't go on a full time mission.

No, silly.  "The book of A Mormon"   It is a true non-fiction.  Not like that fantasy "The book of Mormon".
