RE: So, Brits. How's Brexit Going?

I agree that the government should "follow the will of the people" but the problem is that "the people" were lied to in the run up to the referendum. Among other things they were told that leaving the EU would give £300 million per week to the NHS, very many people thought this was a good thing but didn't bother to check the figures. The end result is they voted for a set of lies.

So... if the people get to vote again, will they vote for a new set of lies?
Or do we assume that those who voted with no information the first time around will now be informed?

Sadly some people actually believe what politicians say despite the evidence that they will say whatever gets their vote

You know..the tragedy here is that representative forms of government were supposed to provide a bulwark against the occasional idiocy of the mob..not facilitate it for fun and profit.

They will be compelled to act out the charade of having a say over the manner of their demise.

The hope is that because the margins were so tight last time and because the lies were so great, enough people are likely to swing the vote the other way.
But there is still a huge part of the population (the baby boomers) who want to leave.
And even if people weren't any more informed now than before, due to natural wastage of baby boomers dying off since the last referendum and the influx of new younger voters, assuming the demographic preference remains the same (and there is no reason to suggest it has changed) then there are enough voters now to remain.
This was one of the ironies of the previous referendum two years ago. Even then it was known that by the time Brexit happens there will be more voters alive wanting to stay than leave.

This Should never have been handled by a referendum to begin with. And i don't really want there to be a second one.
After all, even if like 55% vote remain, why not then have another referendum two years later? Leavers would be in full right to get a third referendum, it's only fair.
And, speaking as a european who stands to lose quite a bit if brexit Goes through, what i want from Brittain more than anything is for clarity and for their indecisiveness to stop.
For all i care at this point; quit, learn (hopefully) and if you want; apply to rejoin. That way is going to Harm a lot of commerse, but at least it's a way forward.
The EU has a ship to run. Seats in parliament to divide. Budgets to make and to manage. And brexit is clogging up all of that.

Ah.... but if they decide to give up on Brexit, now, they get to keep all their rather advantageous perks.
If they apply to rejoin later, all those perks will be lost, or have to be renegotiated... and they will likely have to (or be very pressured to) join the Euro.
Honestly, I think the best deal the UK can make at this moment, economically, politically, socially, etc... is to just remain as they are in the EU.

Oh i agree. And i would prefer them to.
But for goodness sake: their leaders Should stop acting like squabling children and just go for one thing or another.
