Abortion: 10 years as an atheist and I still don't get it
RE: Abortion: 10 years as an atheist and I still don't get it
On one hand there are people who want to make all abortion illegal for everyone
On the other hand some people are happy to have abortion available up until birth

A fair compromise would be to make abortion legal in the 1st trimester, up to 12 weeks
By the 6th week a woman knows if she's pregnant. That gives her 6 weeks to have the abortion done. Plenty of time
2nd and 3rd trimester abortions should only be performed if there is a physical danger

Would that be a fair decision?

No one has to compromise with you over their life. Abortion bans don't improve anything, they make it worse for everyone. The mother, the child, the medical professionals. Hell...the father, too..while we're at it.

This is what you've failed to understand in ten years (likely more..likely forever) and has nothing to do with atheism.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

My bad, I do mix up the nutters from time to time. You aren't the first, and won't be the last. How long have you failed to understand this, then?

What His Nudginess said.  There's not a compromise to be made.  What you're proposing is the equivalent of promoting indentured servitude, because some people want outright slavery and some don't.

Thank you for your thoughtful, on-point reply.  I'll take it under consideration and get back to you.

This can often strip organisations of their best personnel and it increases in frequency as you move up an organisation.

I run a data entry department for a large corporation that processes Medicaid claims for our state. The positions I offer are almost all entry-level, but there's room to move up within the department and opportunities in other departments. You can definitely make a career in this company, I certainly have.

Several years ago a pregnant member of my staff had complications in her pregnancy. Now she's in need of a new kidney (still waiting) and going to dialysis three times a week. Maybe when/if she finally gets that kidney she'll be able to work normal hours again, but she hasn't been able to get any advancement opportunities due to her situation. I work an hour over every day so she can get enough hours so I'm not required to fire her for poor attendance. She runs out of FMLA every year just for her ordinary medical needs; she has nothing left for any additional emergencies. The average survival rate for 5 years of dialysis is about 50% but she's much younger than most people on dialysis, so I am hopeful she will beat the odds.

She didn't mean to choose between advancing in her career and starting a family; but the risks of pregnancy took the choice out of her hands.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Assumption, I know at least one woman who was 3 months in before the penny dropped.

Have you ever been pregnant?

Not every woman knows she is pregnant at the 6 week mark.  There can still be bodily functions happening that make everything appear as though a woman is not pregnant.  Not every woman has morning sickness, not every woman stops bleeding/spotting entirely that early on.

You, again, are posting false information based on your feels about the topic.
