That’s the hill they have to climb. Antifa has arrived at a very accurate observation about liberal democracy and facism. The former has failed to protect its citizens from the latter, and electoral action has very effectively been used to promote rather than diminish the rise of fascist elements.
I wonder what the tipping point will be when some dedicated group follows the ideology and observation to its inevitable terminus, transforming into a more traditional resistance group.
When and why things start going boom.

Particularly with respect to their core ideology, yeah. Counter-organizing isn’t going to stop facism if it’s as bad as they believe it to be. They’re going to have to start spiking rails and blowing utility stations.

Then perhaps their counter-organizing actually will work.
I don’t think it will, personally, judging by how effective the right wing smear campaign has been.
I also think that sheer incompetence is what’s going to tank the rise of facism in the US, more than anything else. The fascists aren’t sending their best people, lol.

Are we experiencing authoritarian ultra-nationalism characterized by dictatorial power in the US? No.
That being said. Their counter-organizing will work... to do what exactly? That's the whole thing. They aren't even a centralized group with a specific endgame in mind. They're a bunch of masked thugs who commit random acts of violence and vandalism, all while calling themselves fighters of "fascism." It's a joke.

Are we discussing the right wing boogeyman myth, or antifa?
In any case, are we there yet? I don’t think so, but we do have an admin making s strong run at it, on the back of s cynical election strategy that positively supports it as a method of pandering.
That realization helps to reenforce people’s frustrations with electoral action, which is what lead to antifa. Depending on how things go from here, antifa will either fail at mounting significant opposition....or they could morph into the boogeymen for real, and be much more effective.

In Portugal, like once every couple of years, the fascists get into confrontation with the Anarchists (that is what they call themselves). The cops take the oportunity to clean the dust out of the batons.
