Don't the cops usually wear vests?  I would think their ribs would be pretty well protected.

Or, and I'm just spitballing here, our familiarity with the rhetoric employed by law enforcement in the case of the browns is one of those bizarre position generating ticks of american authoritarianism. Having worked juvenile detention, shelter care, and alternative school decades ago as a way to get through and pay off school, I can tell you I was never afraid of any kid.  Not that I'm a brute or badass.  I knew from dealing with farm animals and aggressive dogs that being fearless and nonthreatening was the great de-escalator.  

Many kids have horrible parents and overcome that.  Some have good parents but suffer mental illness.  A person who draws a conclusion about the parents from reading the story and watching the video shows both ignorance and bias.

This child was already in restraints, but refused to put her feet inside the police car. There were at least six officers on scene. One cop told the girl, 'You're going to get pepper spray in your eyeballs', to which another officer replied, 'At this point, just go ahead and spray her.'

There is no scenario that I can see under which this was handled correctly. If your solution to an unruly nine year old girl is to pepper spray her, you shouldn't be a cop in the first place.

She looks probably around 130 lbs. As heavy as a grown woman. Look at her legs. They are huge/ very thick. A kick from a girl even under a hundred pounds could easily crack a grown man's ribs. She obviously has very f'd up parents who have been a terrible influence on her. She thought her mom stabbed her father, and it's abuse in itself to let any 9 year old child get that fat. The parents are killing the child slowly letting her get that fat.

I didn't see the child kick the cop in the back of the car, and if she wasn't kicking at that point, they should have been more patient with her. Maybe they didn't just want to shove her in there because they were afraid of injuring her legs. That doesn't mean they should have pepper sprayed her though. She may be the size of an adult, but she has the mind of a child, so you can't just treat her like an adult.

I didn't bring up how heavy she is to mock her. I feel bad for her because her parents clearly do not care about her health and let her become that. She'll lose decades of her lifespan if she continues eating at the rate she is. And I brought up her weight because someone in the thread was misrepresenting the situation and called her 60 lbs. A 60 lb 9 year old would be a stick figure. This girl is not your average 9 year old.

I defended her in my posts. I'm ok with her being handcuffed because she was kicking people, but it was wrong to pepper spray her. If bringing up a fact like her being a large girl offends you, I don't know what to tell you. Facts don't care about feelings.

I confess to not being fixated on the leg size of the child in question - I was more concerned  with the treatment she was receiving from those who are sworn to ‘serve and protect’.

And the average weight of a 9 year old American female is 62 lbs.
