Two years ago the Dems ran Congress. Three years ago the dems ran Congress. It's been almost 4 years since the dems took over Congress. The deficits dropped from $487 billion in 2003 to $167 billion in 2007. To say the tax cuts drove up the deficits is false.

The Dems "rubber stamped" everything that Bush wanted for his last two years in office. Even though they are at fault for being spineless and caving in to all of his demands, Bush ran the show during his entire administration. Also, your deficit figures don't include supplemental war spending bills, which are now honestly included in Obama's budgets.

What did they rubber stamp?

They started to show some spine of FISA but then caved to that demand too. This last decade has been a grand experiment on what happens when Republicans are allowed to run the show. From tax cuts to military spending, everything the Republicans wanted was handed to them on a silver platter with a side order of Democrat rollovers. The collapse in 2008 is solely due to their leadership. Even with Obama in office and the biggest majorities the Democrats have ever had, they caved at every chance they could get. Single payer was taken off the table before negotiations even started on health care. The public option and every other compromise quickly followed. Gitmo is still open for business. Spain was pressured into dropping charges against Bush and Cheney. Tax cuts for the rich will be extended. Unemployment benefits will likely be cut off.

Now you're getting into the realm of science fiction. Spain? Really? I'll ask you. How long should the unemployment rates be extended? To 2 years? 3? Indifinately? Where does the money come from? Was Bush asking for tons of money for the wars in '08? Quote? Did the Dems disagree with the bank problems (caused by Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, and Chris Dodd) and publicly say they shouldn't be handled?
Another bad Republican idea.
I'm sorry. I wasn't concise. All Republican ideas are bad ideas. Another Republican idea. (December 3, 2010 at 6:18 pm)Mishka Wrote: Now you're getting into the realm of science fiction. Spain? Quote:Was Bush asking for tons of money for the wars in '08?Bush's private war of aggression in Iraq has cost tons of money throughout his administration and the bills are still piling up. Personally, I think we should pay for the Iraq War by instituting a "dumb ass tax" that anyone who actually voted for Bush in 2004, despite the news that he'd lied us into the war. Quote:Quote? I agree. It is true that in many cases unemployment and welfare bring in a higher income than a job would. Toss in an extra kid or two and your income doubles/triples. Then hook up with an employed person, do not report it, everyone move into the government substidized home and your income quadruples. Woo Hooo another Cadillac Driving Welfare Queen is born. With those who live unattached the incentive to get a job is still quite small. Your income is either equal to or only slightly smaller, than you brought home from the job AND you get to sit around in your underwear drinking beer all day.

Every dollar that the unemployed get goes right back into the companies and employers so they can sell more product and start hiring or rehiring employees. Anyone who doesn't believe that has the brain of a worm. |
