Indeed.

The carrot stick type of mentality is just about dead today.

Spare the rod and spoil the child.

Most do not promote violence against children today as a good child rearing method.

Right wing Christians are about the only ones left who have yet to learn that that beatings is not a moral way to raise children.

Some of the advise given in scripture are worthy of following but to say that they came from a God would be a lie. Men did the writing. Not God. And those men were definitely not inspired by any God as most of what they wrote created a misogynous and homophobic religion.

Look at that fine Christian spirit Rolleyes

Christ said, "knock the dust off your feet when you leave a town where they will not listen."
Seems to me we have the right to say you are not going to change and listen. If you think you can make me feel bad about doing what Christians have been taught by Christ, you are mistaken.

You cut me to the bone GC. I only want to be loved, yet you discard me like a used condom down the drainpipe to hell.

You've chosen the drainpipe slide, I've tried you've rejected, I'll leave you with Christ.

You know prof, maybe it's because we aren't claiming nonsense as truth?

Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence.

Then where is the proof of evolution, bring on that extraordinary evidence.

And yet one of the selling points of your religion is that no one, supposedly, is a lost cause while they still draw breath -- that even God does not give up on the sinner while there is still a chance of genuine contrition and faith in Christ. But you presume to know better, I guess.

You need to study the scriptures, looking at the pictures will get you nowhere. God said, "I'll not strive with man forever." Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit will cause God to turn His back on you. Christ told his disciples, If the people of a town rejects what you teach, leave that town and shake the dust from your feet as a testimony against them. I presume nothing, I understand what the scriptures teach God's people, and as you can see we can give some notification against those who will not listen.

Quote:This is what I like about you GC. Hardly a day goes by that you don't confirm my opinion that you are an arrogant blowhard and a self-righteous asshole. It's nice to have one's beliefs confirmed by actual evidence (not that you would be able to relate to the experience). Angel Cloud

You don't like nothing about me, and it's your arrogance that blinds you to the truth, but don't fret time reveals all truth, you will see someday, hopefully not to late.

And that would involve me attempting to move factual evidence from my brain into a seperate area that I would label as "do not enter under any circumstances". At the same time, try to convince myself that the god of the bible actually does exist outside of reality and created everything with a mere thought?

You know nothing about creation if you believe God created all things with only a thought, your lack of biblical knowledge is astounding. What makes you believe you can argue against something you do not understand.

I've often tried to imagine how it would be to exist in that state of mind but I struggle. I also wonder whether in the right circumstances I could temporarily move into that way of thinking just for a moment - tried but failed miserably.

Quote:It may be similar to when I've thought deeply about the scale of the Universe and, for what seems like milliseconds with the right atmosphere, began to comprehend it but it just as quickly went away.

Milliseconds of continual thought is all you seem to ever muster-up.

Quote:So you see, I'd be willing to try and imagine your god but my brain just won't allow it. I've even gone to church with my wife in the past but no, not a lot there. Sorry.

Try looking past your arrogant nose.

Disbelieving evolution is like...saying "there is no photosynthesis", or "gravity!? Where's the evidence?"

We could provide endless links referencing evidence for evolution, and creationists would just ignore them completely, or else read the first three words of the page and decide they know more about it than the person who wrote it.

You can't do anything about someone who barricades themselves in and complains there is no way out.

Jump of the roof, gravity. Watch a plant grow strong photosynthesis. Watch a dog become a frog evolution.

You do the very thing with the Bible you just described. I want proof, no one has offered the first speck.
