More atheist men than women?

You don't choose to believe or disbelieve, you just do. And if you believe you're going to hell if you disobey, you aren't leaving.

Religion controls women. Tells them to submit to their husbands. Makes them inferior to men. Tells them what to do or not do with their bodies,  what to wear and what not to wear, how to behave and how to express and not express their sexuality. It raises them to be obedient, on pain of eternal torture.

If you really believe, you're too scared to leave.  And if you're not taught to think for yourself, it's hard to disbelieve.

None of this has ever been my experience.

Haha!

Are there atheist dating sites?

I'm not sure but probably, there are dating sites for farmers.

And women can say what they want. The pope does not "punish" women for saying something, while being ok with men saying the same thing. ;-)

We don't need to hide behind the internet to say what we want about the Church.

You don't. I'm not talking about saying bad things on your forum. I'm taking about discussing doctrine and having opinions in general. You are extrapolating your experience to everyone else, I am saying the general experience might not reflect am unspoken 'rule' or tradition that theology has been done by men. A quick read of the NT would tell you that women aren't to have opinions about church doctrine, but are to be silent and defer to their husbands. The anonymity of the internet may overcome that.

Bolded mine. This is not Catholic teaching.

Remember, Catholicism is not sola scriptura. I can't speak for the Christian denominations that are.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Lol, I used to screw with my ex-girlfriend who was a Christian, with this very same passage.

Right. That means it never happens. Nevermind then!

I'm sure it does happen to some people. It's just not the norm.

Earlier it was mentioned that, rules being harsher for women in traditionally patriarchal religions, it would naturally make them want to leave more.

Might be the case, there's very little data on this for obvious reasons (no religion wants studies talking to people about how likely they are to leave). Naturally it can have the opposite effect too in that, perhaps more barriers are put up in front of women to prevent them from leaving. Shaming and ostracising women for leaving a religion, kicking them out of the house in a society where they are given less rights than cars (Saudi, in fact most of the islamic world). It all adds up.

Making a woman reliant on a man is the best ball and chain religions and society ever came up with. The sexual revolution and the rejection of Christian moral pontificating, equally, did more for women emancipation than any religious institution ever did.

It isn't in that sense, but it is part of the keystone of why women cannot become priests right? To be a top leader within Catholicism one needs to receive holy orders, and to receive holy orders you need to pass two checks...

A) A penis, and not just any penis but a fully functional set of male genitalia (eunuchs cannot become clergy or preform mass).

B) Women are made in the image of man, not of God. That's why the NT directs women to submit to their superior male who in turn submits to his (God).

If you look back at Church history this really is the case, you can be autistic like Celestine, you can even be a 13 year old boy who doesn't know crap about theology but so long as you've got a dong that makes you a candidate for the papacy. Forget the fact you can be a theological genius like Hildegarde; no dong? No promotion.

Women cannot become leaders in Catholicism, they will always have another man over them telling them what they can and can't do.

Yes, but Catholic women in 21st century America don't normally have those issues.

I guess I should have made an exception for the countries/religions which actually would literally stop a woman from leaving their faith. Generally in the Western World we don't have that problem.

Sorry, to answer the OP in the immediate demographics of this forum, my experience has been that there tend to be more men on forums than women (with some obvious exceptions, like female orientated forums for an example). Maybe it's just teh internets.

True, but the rights and freedoms you enjoy as a woman today in the 21st century world did not from Catholicism or the RCC. It wasn't the RCC that gave women the right to vote, it wasn't the RCC that gave women the contraceptive pill or the right to determine her own sexual independence.
