In Isaiah 53 it says "all we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned everyone to his own way and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all". Have you read that? In the Old Testament it talk a lot about the sacrifices that are made to atone for sins. Have you ever read the book of Hebrews?
And this is what I meant earlier... You are going to sit here and tell me that your interpretation is correct.
Isaiah 6:6-7 King James Version (KJV)
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
Hey, that seems like a lot less of a pagan practice than human sacrifice does. Remember them damn heathens that sent their children through the fire for attonement of their sins? The more innocent, the better the attonement. Sacrifice is evil and especially human/deity sacrifice.
Isaiah 5:20
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

How do you know what is pagan and what is divine? Where does any of what you have posted say that Christs death on the cross was pagan?

How? God put his laws in my heart and gave me a brain to use, that's how. What convinced you that sacrifice was righteous?
(and I never said his death was pagan, I said human/deity sacrifice for attonement of sin was pagan)

Its necessity, it's efficacy, the manner in which it achieves its effect, the manner in which it was carried out, the justifications given for it's being carried out, the lack of consent on the part of it's supposed beneficiaries, the implication of their communal culpability for it's being carried out, the erosion of the fundamental concepts it is supposed to have addressed if it -were- carried out and -was- effective....and finally, that people keep telling this bullshit story as though it actually happened.
In short, I object to everything about it. Go chain your goats to posts and beat them to death all day long, maybe the bad things won't "get you", I'll pass.

Cue the apologetics to explain that scapegoating is not really scapegoating in 1... 2... 3...

Fancy words and fancy hats Chad - this stuff is important to a certain subset.

I just find his use of the term odd.

It's kind of ironic to avoid the use of god's personal name while talking about getting to know him better.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
