Absolutely. It's much easier to get started in movies these days, with inexpensive HD cameras, editing/compositing software, HQ sound resources, etc. Youtube, Vimeo etc make it a cinch to get your work out there. The facilities exist now that were undreamed of only a decade ago. You could easily put together a shot-for-shot remake of Star Wars in your own living room - hell, lots of people have done almost exactly that. I'm musing about doing an original James Bond story I've come up with.
Going in a slightly different direction, there's a guy going by the name
Batmanmarch who has made whole series of original stop-motion Doctor Who stories, mainly but not exclusively Paul McGann 8th Doctor adventures, with himself and friends as voice cast, licensed action figures as miniatures and purpose-built, freely available sets. I don't get commission from this but I urge you to check him out. (He's done some Batman stuff as well, but I don't hold that against him.)

Lol Awww Nothing wrong with Batman! I will check him out, I really get inspired by people like him. I will say, for me personally, the ease that people can put out quality creative material has a sort of stifling effect on my personality. "How could I compete with people this brilliant?" or "Welp, that niche is filled" often cross my mind.
Another thing that seems to help is growing up with a creative partner from school or finding like minded people locally. I did have a pretty creative crew growing up, but women (a woman, rather) put an end to all of that and I was never able to connect with people.
But! My daughter wants to start one of those "Lets Play" channels where we review and mess around with videogames. I would do that even with no viewership if some extra money ever comes in at the right time.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

I love those Let's Play vids, my nephew Chris is in a group that does them.
This is one of the best and funniest I've ever seen. This guy's delivery is so dry, almost like Alan Partridge. It's in two parts, about an hour in total but please don't let that put you off. You'll thank me:

Haha! Yes! I watched a random 5 minutes and already had a good laugh. I'll be following him. He didn't say anything R rated in the short time I watched, is he kid friendly?
My daughter and I watch Cupquake and Stampy Cat. I love the Lets Play stuff because the branding allows me to monitor what is and isn't kid friendly stuff. I also watch PewdiePie cuz he's nuts, but he's definitely not for the kiddies.

Yes and no. He's mostly PG, though there's a little 'bad' language in there. He also does a bit of mild perving over the female characters, so you might want to watch it through first. Maybe for older kids, early teens and that.
