Paul was never a pharisee. In fact, it's a pretty common suspicion that paul was never a jew at all - judging from his writing. You might be familiar with what paul did today as resume padding. OFC, we can't definitely and comprehensively lay that blaim on paul, as paul is a character as written, himself™.
