Maybe no one on Tucker Carlsons White Power hour said anything? In the real world people did, because people have known that blackface is racist for as long as there has been blackface. Largely, downey was perceived as playing a meta-minstrel show. His character was a jab at ridiculous method acting (as stiller's character was a jab at people who butcher disabled roles in pursuit of awards.)
What's the point, though? Appealing to hypocrisy, if successful, could only prove that both items were meaningfully racist or meaningfully offensive. I think they were probably aiming for offensive, though, so I don't know if that serves as competent criticism or it's just a roundabout way of saying job well done.

Then came Donald Trump. Since his election, I haven't known what to think. A cynical person might say that the election of Donald Trump is a stunning example of a country getting the government it deserves . But I couldn't possibly say such a thing.

This is the guy who at first said it was him, then it wasn't him, then it was again?
Yea he shouldn't have to resign, they should've kicked his ass out of office already.
